Methley Primary school caters for pupils between the ages of 3-11. The school holds an annual Open Day for interested parents to look round the school with the Headteacher or School Business Manager. You are also very welcome to look round our school at any time of the year (subject to any COVID restrictions). Please contact the school office to make an appointment.
Methley Primary School is part of the Brigshaw Learning Partnership (BLP) which is the admission authority for: Brigshaw High School, Allerton Bywater; Kippax Ash Tree, Kippax Greenfield, Kippax North, Methley and Swillington Primary schools. Although the BLP is the admissions authority, the school works with Leeds City Council’s Admissions Unit who co-ordinate reception places at all schools in Leeds.
Admission Arrangements for Pupils Year 1 to Year 6
If your child is already of school age, please contact the school to arrange to discuss your application with the Headteacher at a mutually convenient time. You will also need to obtain a copy of the In Year Common Preference Form which you can download from the links below. If you would like a place, return the form to school, ensuring you ask for a receipt. The BLP will consider your application for a place and will inform you within 10 school days if there is a place available.
Appeals for an In-Year Transfer place
If your application for an In-Year Transfer place has been refused by the academy trust, you have the right to appeal against the decision.
An appeal must be made in writing. Appeal forms can be either collected from the academy’s reception or downloaded from this page.
Please return the completed appeal form to us within 20 school days* of your child having been refused a place at the school (“the deadline”). Appeals which we receive by the deadline will be heard within 30 school days of us receiving the appeal form.
If you do not return the completed appeal form to us by the deadline, we will still hear your appeal, but it will be held later in the year.
Before you apply for places at the school we would advise you to:
All admissions to Reception are organised through the Leeds Admissions Unit. If your child was born between 1st September 2017 and 31st August 2018 inclusive you are eligible to apply for a Reception place for September 2022. Parents who wish to do so must complete a School Preference Form via the website link 'apply for a school place'. For September 2022, applications will open on 1st November 2021. Applications for a school place must be made by 15th January 2022. Applications can be completed online or by completing an application form.
Admissions arrangements for all Leeds primary schools can be found in their composite prospectus which is published on their website.
We recommend choosing five schools to give your child the best chance of getting a place at a school you prefer.
If you live outside Leeds and want your child to go to a school in Leeds, you must apply to your own local authority and they will inform us of your request.
Going to a school's nursery does not guarantee your child a place at that school.
If you're moving home
You should apply now, using your current address.
If you move before 12 February 2022, you can make changes to your application.
Parents and Carers of children starting school in September 2022
You will be informed of your child's school offer via email on national offer day, 19th April 2022. Please confirm your place by emailing the school. In light of the Coronavirus, we anticipate that emails will remain the most appropriate way to accept your place.
Once we know our exact intake, we begin the process of ensuring every child’s entry into school is happy and relaxed. This usually begins in the summer term before the September start. In light of the Coronavirus situation, we are currently waiting to plan our summer term transition arrangements. Once we have confirmation of your child's place with us, we will contact you directly and keep you informed of our plans.
