What is Pupil Premium?

Purpose
Pupil premium is funding to improve education outcomes for disadvantaged pupils in schools in England. Evidence shows that disadvantaged children generally face additional challenges in reaching their potential at school and often do not perform as well as other pupils.

Pupil eligibility and funding rates:
Amount of funding for each primary-aged pupil per year:
Schools receive £1345 per pupil who is eligible for free school meals, or have been eligible in the past 6 years. They receive £2345 per pupil who has been adopted from care or is currently looked after by the local authority.

In June 2020 the government announced £1 billion of funding to support children and young people to catch up on missed learning caused by coronavirus (COVID19). This is especially important for the most vulnerable pupils and pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds who we know have been most affected.

The plan attached outlines how Methley Primary School will spend its Pupil Premium and Catch Up Premium and also outlines the impact of the previous year's funding. Pupil Premium Statement
