Methley Primary is a school for pupils from 3 to 11 years and is now an academy and part of the Brigshaw Learning Partnership (BLP). The village of Methley was once a mining and agricultural community. The coalmines have now closed and new industry and commerce continue to move into the area, drawn by the easy access to the M1 and M62 motorways and the ease of commuting to the centres of Leeds and Wakefield. A school is four walls around the future; it is the centre of our community housed in a building equipped for the education of pupils for the 21st Century. We amalgamated from separate Junior and Infant schools in September 2004 and moved into our new PFI built school as of September 2005. Including our Foundation Stage Unit, we currently operate 15 classes.
